The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. Downers Grove has earned the Joint Commission’s prestigious Gold Seal of Approval, as well as a special certification in Post-Acute Care. Achieving accreditation is not mandatory for skilled nursing centers, but Downers Grove appreciates the commitment to quality that The Joint Commission’s standards represent, so we gladly apply.

Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing has been recognized as a Best Nursing Home for 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report. Downers Grove earned “High Performing,” the highest possible ranking, for both Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care, which only 4.5% of nursing homes earned.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services uses a 5-star quality rating system to rate the care provided at all nursing homes that participate in the Medicare program. Nursing homes with 5 stars are considered to have much above average quality. Downers Grove is proud to currently hold 5-star status in the area of RN Staffing. Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing has been certified as a Vohra Wound Physicians Center of Excellence for Wound Management. The Center of Excellence in Wound Management was created to highlight and identify facilities that have developed a superior wound management program. To receive this award, we have met the following criteria: Less than 1% wound related hospitalization rate; Vohra wound physician rounding with an average wound census of more than 5 patients per week; Regular team meetings with a focus on Quality and Process Improvement (QAPI); Designated Vohra wound care certified nurse with availability 7 days a week. Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing has achieved INTERACT™ (Interventions to Reduce Acute Care Transfers) Center of Excellence status. To achieve this, our leadership team committed to a rigorous certification program that promotes reducing unnecessary hospital readmissions utilizing the INTERACT™ Quality Improvement Program (QIP), which includes interventions designed to improve the identification, evaluation, and communication about changes in resident status.
