Skilled Nursing
We look different, but we have a different approach to skilled nursing care that you’ll find refreshing. We’re known for our compassionate skill, and for working hard to treat the whole person: their physical needs are met, but so are their social, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. That’s why patients and their families feel so comfortable here.
When Quality Counts, Count on Downers Grove Skilled Nursing.
Personalized Attention
We know nothing is more important than the trust between our residents and their caregivers, so Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing is committed to safe staffing ratios, allowing each resident to receive the personalized care and attention they deserve. We consistently rank among the best-staffed in the nation for both nurse aides and RNs, according to CMS reports.
Holding Ourselves to the Highest Standards.
The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing has earned the Joint Commission’s prestigious Gold Seal of Approval in Comprehensive Care for Nursing Care Centers. Achieving accreditation is not mandatory for skilled nursing centers, but we appreciate the commitment to quality that The Joint Commission’s standards represent, so we gladly apply.
Caring for Body and Soul
What truly sets Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing apart is our faith-based, non-profit mission. Our call is to serve each individual “in the name of Jesus Christ,” and we do that by investing in our staff and our residents, not shareholders. With a chaplain on campus, residents find peace and comfort in our caring environment, regardless of their personal beliefs.
Proven Outcomes
Our hard work, high standards, and commitment to our residents pays off. Not only does our skilled nursing program consistently earn Above Average rankings by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, but we’ve also been repeatedly named to U.S. News & World Reports’ annual list of Best Nursing Homes. We credit this success to the strong relationships between our employees, medical directors, and on-staff physicians.
Reducing Hospitalizations
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That’s why Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing has implemented the INTERACT (Interventions to Reduce Acute Care Transfers) program, which helps our care team members monitor and quickly respond to changes in our residents’ health condition. We prioritize effective communication with our partnering physicians as a way to prevent unnecessary trips to the hospital.
Advanced Clinical Care
Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing is proud to have been certified by Vohra Wound Physicians as a Center of Excellence for Wound Management. Our certified wound care nurse and our clinical team undergone specialized training to prevent and treat all types of chronic and complex wound and skin issues, reducing the need to send our residents out to wound care centers or hospitals.
Valuing Our Employees
We know it takes a special kind of person to provide loving care for seniors, and we value the hard work of our team members through a supportive environment, flexible scheduling, a generous benefits package, and opportunities to advance their careers. And in return, our employees are loyal to Downers Grove – with a lower staff turnover rate than other organizations in our industry.
Committed to Stopping COVID-19.
In the early days of the pandemic, Downers Grove Rehab & Nursing chose to serve our community by opening a COVID Recovery Unit, where low-acuity, COVID-19 positive, older adult patients could continue to recover and receive rehabilitation before returning home. To date, this unit has served over 400 patients from 4 different states. And we’re still continuing the fight, with COVID-19 vaccination rates for both patients and staff above the national averages.
